happy summer

The last six months have been filled with adventure and healing. Physically, I am getting back into groove and finding my energy returning. Every day that I pick my kids up from the bus and watch them swim at the pool, I am happy with my change in direction. It’s been good.

In February, we ventured to the island of Curacao for two weeks and stayed in a bright yellow house on the ocean. It was an adventure – from driving around and getting lost in a little tiny car to swimming with the dolphins to struggling with the Dutch words – and the girls keep asking to go back!

I have received a lot of inquiries about whether or not I’ll be shooting this fall again. Sadly, I am not. In fact, my camera has laid dormant and is begging me to take pictures of my girls and I haven’t quite gotten there. In time, I will pick up the “big black box” and snap a few. But for now, I am just watching the light and shadows that unfold before my eyes.

a new year. a new direction.

As some of you may know, the past three months have been an intense time in my personal life. In early October we were involved in a car accident, which required a significant amount of rehabilitation. A few weeks later my mother fell ill and, after a brief illness, she passed away in late November.

My mother’s passing was a shock to my system and my world, but it also gave me the gift of reflection. I’ve realized that it’s time for me, as an artist, to evolve and change the course of my photography work. I’ve also realized that it’s time to shift more focus to my family and our three little girls.

The most significant change is that I will no longer be operating my studio in Middleton and will no longer be booking sessions in the future. Instead, I plan to focus on some personal photography projects I’ve been pondering, as well as a limited number of photographic commissions.

For current clients with active sessions, either my studio manager or myself will reach out to you individually and will work with you to have orders placed and fulfilled by the end of February.

For past clients, archival CDs containing retouched, high-resolution files of previously-ordered images are available for purchase for a limited time. CDs are available for $99 per session. If multiple years’ sessions are purchased, a 15% discount may be applied to the entire order (use promotion code 15OFF during checkout). CDs may be purchased through the end of March, after which archived files will be no longer be available. Note: only images that were previously retouched and purchased in past sessions will be included on the CDs.

Please visit my online store to place your order:

I’ll continue to post periodic updates on my photographic endeavors on this blog and hope that you will follow along and keep in touch with me there.

The past decade of operating the portrait studio has been a delight and honor. Thank you to everyone for your support and business over the years!

never too old for bubbles

Finally. I am back from medical leave (had surgery, no worries, all is ok) and easing back into work at the studio. I would lying if I said the recovery was easy, but everyday is getting better and I am now in my second full week back to work. Of course, the piles of personal images that I meant to work on during recovery didn’t get the attention they expected. But that’s another story…

The story that these images tell is one that is far more fun! Bubbles are so much fun to play with, whether your 2 years old or 6 years old or even 36 years old (talking about me here!). I did a quick search to read more about them and was amazed to find an entire website dedicated to bubbles! According to The Bubblesphere, the largest bubble made is 50 feet long! My studio isn’t big enough for that, but we still had a good time. The pure joy that bubbles bring out make my camera very happy!
